Speech & Language and Auditory Verbal Therapy

About me

I have been working with children, their families, nurseries, and education provisions as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist for over 25 years.

I am also an Auditory Verbal Therapist, having trained with Auditory Verbal UK, where I currently work as an AV therapist with babies, children and their families via telepractice and in their homes, working closely with those involved with the child.

Until recently I was working at St Georges Hospital as the Speech and Language Therapist on the Auditory Implant Programme as well as working in private schools in London and with children who are in alternative provisions.

In addition, I am level 1 PROMPT trained and have level 2 British Sign Language as well as being trained in both Cued Articulation and Makaton.

I have a significant amount of experience as a Trainer, providing training for those who work in schools, nurseries, hospitals and for parents in a range of subject areas such as; facilitating language, developing speech sounds, making language funcional, developing early listening skills and developing language through audition.

With all the clients I work with, I spend time making sure I understand how they learn and how best to support them in reaching their communication potential.  My therapy is fun and varied and, where possible, I try to move away from structured worksheets and focus on making communication natural, functional and enjoyable; relevant to the real world.

I see children with the following communication needs

  • Understanding; delay/disorder
  • Expressive language; delay/disorder
  • Phonological; delay/disorder
  • Articulation disorders
  • Dyspraxia
  • Dysfluency, stuttering/stammering
  • Learning difficulties
  • Permanent hearing loss, including children with cochlear implants
  • Fluctuating hearing loss, children with glue ear
  • Social/pragmatic disorders
  • Attention and listening delay
